Typical Fishing Day
Mid day arrival: Picked up at Port Hardy Airport by Van or Limo and driven to Coal Harbor (25 minutes away) or if you drive, we pick you up at Coal Harbor (parking is available next to dock).
Enjoy a 20 minute boat ride to Quatsino Sound, the location of Eagle Manor Resort. (Quatsino is located near Port Hardy) where your luggage is dropped off.
Now we head west for an exciting afternoon of fishing. Snack beverages are on board.
Return to Eagle Manor and relish a gourmet dinner in our oceanview solarium.
After dinner enjoy a walk on our private beach or take a soak in our Jacuzzi. Keep an eye open for the many wildlife neighbours – eagles, deer, otters, and more. Breath in that freash salt air – you’ll sleep like a baby tonight.
Day 2 and 3
The day starts early with a discussion of your fishing plans over a continental breakfast.
Today will be a full day of West Coast fishing, 3 to 5 miles off shore. This is where some of the best salt water fishing in British Columbia can be found. At sun up we depart. Box lunches and snacks are supplied.
The chef insists we check our prawn and crab traps on the way back.
After taking a few photos of us with a prize catch, it’s time to freshen up for supper. There’s something about a wonderful meal in a wilderness setting that heightens the senses… especially the appetite! Time to relax and talk about the one that didn’t get away. The Hamlet of Quatsino has only one 7km road. An eight minute walk up the road leads to a 108 year old chapel in the woods, beautifully maintained by the Quatsino community.
The days are long now this far north, and the calm weather of the sound is inviting you to try your hand at ocean kayaking. Or maybe just catch up on some summer evening reading in our sunny garden or tea room.
Looking west down Quatsino Sound this evening brings with it the daily sunset – each unique, many unforgettable.
The thrill of fishing never gets old, but this morning it is bitter sweet because it’s the last day. Will today’s Chinook catch include a trophy king? Will we see killer whales again? Each day at Eagle Manor is an adventure.
Rarely is a day of fishing the same as the day before, and today is no exception as we set out at sunrise. Your guide gives you lots of options – Chinook salmon, fly fishing for Coho (for you fly fishing buffs who bring your flying fishing gear), halibut and bright red snappers. So many choices. But today is the last day to fish, so we choose wisely.
As we travel to and from the fishing grounds enjoying a snack and beverage, we take one last look at the old Quatsino lighthouse and the beautiful scenery we have enjoyed the past few days. We arrive back at Eagle Manor around 10:30am. Time to take a few final photos of Eagle Manor and the reminders of a great adventure. We head back to Coal Harbor around 11pm.
If needed, transportation is ready to whisk us to the Port Hardy airport. We gotta come back to this paradise next year!
